A Short Climb
Created by Thomas Marshall and Alex Tate-Moffo, A Short Climb is a short vertical platformer made in Unity. The game was a final project for CITA280: Game Programming in Spring 2021.
Race to the top of a tree to get back your locket, stolen by a terrifying owl while you were sleeping! Along the way, jump between platforms, dodge enemies, and collect nuts - if you collect them all, maybe you will have enough strength to steal the locket back?

Development Process (Mar 2021 - Apr 2021)
1) Pitch
I pitched the idea for the game, which overall remained unchanged throughout the design process.
2) Level Prototype
Thomas joined me on the project, and together we created a theoretical layout for the main level as our "paper" prototype. Both prototype assets rendered by me.
3) Gameplay Prototype
I worked collaboratively with Thomas to program and test A Short Climb. The game went through a few cycles of programming and testing during development, starting out as a very simplistic gameplay demo with no art or music assets. The video below showcases this demo and features a bug with platforms early in development.
4) Finished Documentation
Thomas and I finished A Short Climb in late April of 2021, in time for Spring finals. We completed a Game Design Document for the project detailing all of the finalized elements and crediting, seen below.
Additionally, below is a document detailing my specific code contributions to the project. Beyond code, I created all of the art assets for the game myself.
